Working on sorting out whats going on with Dominique, my custom 56 Vette. Remember, this was built in 1962. Anyone know what this box is? It goes from here to the tail lights...three 59 Caddy units on each side. Thanks!
I thought it could be that but the middle tail light on each side was white, so that kind of threw me. What kind of cars had sequential tail lights in 1962?
I'm sure the technology was available, it probably just wasn't cost effective for manufacturers to do it in 1962. As for the white middle light, maybe they just included it in the sequence or maybe the center lenses were red at one time?
can you read the numbers/letters stamped on the black box? Maybe C8W...???? That will tell us what the guts are from. The example I quoted, C means 1960s, 8 means 8th year (1968), W is Cougar, V is Lincoln, Z is Mustang, S is Tbird, etc. The metal box and connectors are a nice touch, to keep it hidden away.
I believe that is a 71 Cougar sequencer. In 71 they went from a mechanical, motor driven gang switch to a solid state sequencer. The box it is in and the connectors look like something aircraft or military.
D1W means 71 cougar, indeed. The box looks more like home brew electronics stuff, not milspec...but doesn't really matter.
Awesome, thanks. This must have been done before the drag race days. It helps me with pinning down the time line of when things got changed.
