Projects Anyone recognize the logo or number on this fitting

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 31Vicky with a hemi, Feb 25, 2020.

  1. I tried google with the part number SH201908.

I’m trying to identify this fitting,
Then research the threads on each end.
    Then fabricate a different apparatus.
These pics are coming to me from across state. Obviously it’s made in China, 316 stainless.

the date code is NOT a part number....so good luck with googling that number.

  3. Hydraulic or fluid fitting ?

can you take a pic of the end ?

    Might be jis or din

Chinese part numbers generally don’t cross over to North American or European numbers

The 316 is telling you it is stainless steel 316 alloy. A good hydraulic store should be able to help.

  5. If you are trying to research the threads to determine what they are, just use a thread gauge on them.

Thread Pitch Gage 001.jpg AN Thread Size Chart 1 001.jpg I remembered seeing something like that in my fittings drawers. Seems like it came off an air tool. Couldn't find the one I thought was like yours, but found the one below. An AN/JIC cap screwed perfectly on the small end with its 37 degree taper. The female end accepted the AN/JIC fitting in the picture, but the fitting seemed a little loose and it did not go in far enough to make contact with the seat inside the main fitting. It had "AN LAK" stamped on the side of the fitting.
Here are some reference charts you can use to compare things. What are you trying to assemble?

One more thing......You might try researching those numbers on the Alibaba web site (Asian Ebay). When I converted my lathe to single phase with a 7.5HP Chinese made motor years ago (before VFDs became popular), I blew a start capacitor. Could not find a replacement anywhere. Found it on Alibaba. Only time I ever used it.

no matter how much you search for that date code, it won't turn into a part number.

bi logo stands for Brennan Industries.

  12. Looks like there should be a number under the logo for tracing the part.

And they are right in your backyard. Headquartered in Clevland.

Remember he is being sent the pictures, so doesn't have access to the part to measure.
Also, the bi logo looks pretty chintzy, perhaps it's just pretending to be Brennan.

Too bad it's not one of those "every thread is perfect every time" Australian threads.

You will almost never see anything made in China with a part number or serial number on it. Case in point, all the crap that you purchase from Harbor Freight. Sure the tools come with a parts list, but just try to find a part, or even where to get it from. Ask me how I know! The Chinese just dump this cheap crap on us and as long as they get our money, don't really care.

Most of the modern electronic stuff I have like phones and TVs etc is made in China, and each has a serial number on it...and they mostly work pretty well.

They'll make stuff to whatever quality level is specified. If you choose to buy the cheapest stuff, the quality level specified will be the lowest possible.

It looks like the part you originally showed with the thread isn't damaged, it's the other part that's stripped out. Can't you just dress it up and get it welded, brazed, or soldered back in place?
