Running my 38 Ford sedan with ‘40 Ford 16” steelies. It has 4.50/4.75 up front and a 7.00 in the back. I want to switch to radials, anybody know of radials this size besides excelsiors?

roughly 135/80R16 and 215/75R15. Not that you'll actually find the fronts, I'm just telling you what the numbers mean, approximately.

If I had something with tires those sizes, I'd see about keeping bias ply tires on it.

Not quite. I've never seen a good looking radial to replace a 4.50 x 16" size. Even the Excelsiors don't go this small.

When changing to radials there is a possibility of rim cracking due to the increased flexibility of the radial tire. I am sure many on here will poo poo that and think that a wheel is a wheel. Before making the change I'd suggest reading this article. Over on the Studebaker Drivers Club there have been reports of wheel flex causing the wheel covers to detach from the wheels and an instance or two of cracked wheels.

Every traditionally styled hot rod or custom deserves to have bias ply tires....
