Installing a PCV system on my 235 and looking for a screw in PCV that I can screw in the vacumn port on the intake and then run a hose to the blocked off road draft tube,I know the Ford Y blocks had one but did GM ever have one.
Some late 60s sbcs had one that screwed into the oil fill tube on the intake. Try 67 Camaro for application.
Wrong end. That was on the filler tube, and the hose went to the manifold. He wants the other way 'round.
For 235's I got a core plug that fit the hole where the road draft tube goes (1-1/4", Dorman 555-024). I drilled a hole in it (3/4"), put in a grommet (Mr. Gasket No. MRG-6379), and put the PCV valve in there (Standard Brand V-237). A vented cap in the valve cover finishes out that end (Stant 10064). You can drill out the fitting under the carburetor, in the manifold, and tap it for 1/4"NPT, and run 3/8" hose between the two. Wrap you shop vac hose with enough tape, so that it fits in the carburetor pad hole, and leave the vacuum running when you drill and tap.
Would these do the trick??, Looking at the application sheet, lower right hand corner, you're after the ''screw in manifold type, P/N CV609C'' ... this add was on Ebay..... 1962-64-Corvette-327-64-67-Nova-Chevelle-V8-
Find one that replaces GM 916337, 3916338, 3916339, 3829058 & 6419553. The one that went with the one that was used with the road draft tube replacement is the one where the threads are on the manifold or carburetor end: The one that threads into the filler tube is the one that won't work properly:
I used a BBC valvcover pcv gromet in the road draft tube hole on an sbc with a standard pcv valve. It worked fine. Some of the other options listed above are probably better, but I thought I would offer this method anyway.
Get one for a 1964 chevrolet with a 283. It screws into the back of the carb. Heres a link to one on Rock Auto. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...v+(positive+crankcase+ventilation)+valve,5052
I used the AC Delco one that screws into the back of the carb. and it blew my motor apart. The small metal plunger inside the PCV came out and was sucked into the manifold. Then went into the cylinder and was hit by the piston which then cracked the cyl. wall front and back when it tried to push it up. 1966 , 327 fresh bore, new pistons, align honed etc. $5.00 part cost me $3200. I now put the PCV in a freeze plug that I put in the draft tube opening. Drill and tap for screw in PCV then a 90 degree fitting just in case. Hot Rod carbs sell the grommet that goes in the hole too.
That’s the one I’ll be using on my GMC. I’m also using the Camaro fill tube the side and a hose fitting in the side pipe thread. I like the sealed top of the Camaro oil fill tube and that it will fit in the Chev/GMC block.
Jimmy The open element air filter was standard issue on the 67 Nova and Chevelle L79 and 66/67 Corvette engine option.
This doesn't help you by answering your question about screw-in valves, but it is a pretty informative how-to with a lot of research behind it I think. http://devestechnet.com/Home/PCVInstall
Check out Walcks on line Willys CJ's and 4cly powered Kaiser CJ's used a screw in PCV with 1/4" NPT threads.
Yup, fits a 327. https://momcp.com/product/1967-camaro-l30-327-350-crankcase-vent-tube-assembly-pcv-valve-hoses/
Yup. The breather on the fill tube remains the same, and this replaces the road draft tube. Lust run the hose to a manifold vacuum port, and you're all done!
