Can anybody confirm that this is a Calnevar hubcap? I have three and I am trying to find one to complete the set. I think I know what it is, but I thought I’d check.
I have Calnevar covers on my coupe both white and chrome. They are wheel specific and require the center cap to keep them in place. Calnevar may have made other styles but mine are from NOS boxes.
Here's some historical info https://www.customcarchronicle.com/custom-history/calnevar-chromesides-hubcaps/#.XhZUGOxMGUA Wire cap photo https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/15-calnevar-wire-hubcap.931527/
Thanks Phil, that's a lot more than I ever new about them. There many other applications and part numbers listed on the boxes but I only looked for the ones listed for 1940 ford 16" .
2 points; so original posters ? is a no, I surmise? Also , I have a set (4) of chrome ones in the garage. Learned something new. Have to pull them down and check.
Now I recall at a swap meet last summer seeing 4 white ones. Thought about it. Maybe should of grabbed them
Thanks Don, that what I am running now . In my travels I found more Mopar disks than Ford. I have a set in a box marked for Ford but are NOT and I don't know what they fit.
As a kid I remember seeing these quite often in the early 50’s. We had a set on our family 47 Chevy, always thought they were an alternative to WW tires.
It looks like they are Calnevar caps according to the second link above. Thanks for that. If anybody has one they want to sell please let me know.
I was looking for a white set for my 1938 Dodge. I take my 16" wheel everywhere to check the fit at swap meets and garage sales. No luck. Sent from my LG-H830 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
