well its been alittle while since my last post, i painted the body and installed the wood kit. its starting to come together now, i cant wait to dirve it!!!:D

all i can really say about this wood kit is that it really is a pain in the ass to install, but it was sooo worth the trouble.

luckily i found a couple of suckers to help me lift the body and set it on the frame:rolleyes:

while i was pondering what to use as a body mount bushing i spied my hole-saw and an old tire, it was perfect. the sidewall was the best option as it is not as thick and i didnt have to worry about uneven tire wear.

i found that using a wood spade bit it was easier to cut the holes in the center because it just chewed away at the rubber instead of just grabbing it like a normal bit.

finally mounted up my friction shocks in the rear, i like the clean mechanical look of them, even though you cant really see them back there. still need to mount the fronts.

i made my headlight mounts using a pair of old ford connecting rods, not sure what they came out of, they were just the longest ones i could find.

i really like the way they turned out, still need to do some work to the headlight before i can paint them and mount em, i think thats what i will focus on tomorrow.

mounting the doors turned out to be a real nightmare, it took me the better part of the day to get them to line up and opem/close properly. i just had to roll it out side and gets some shots of it after i was done, the radiator and shell are just mocked up right now

Great car, and I absolutly love the fact that you painted everything, no chrome hardly, no frills....just a hot rod, on a budget, but money spent on the right things, and its homemade. Well done...

Is your radiator mounted on valve springs? Nice

  4. Those headlight mounts are a really cool idea that I've never seen before! How are ya gonna mount em on the frame?

I was gonna say...do you think you could use some more blue on it? :D

    Actually, I love it.

    Those headlight mounts rule.

but I don't know about the lightning holes in the tires.

    Just joking.

Thats actually a really cool trick too!

im not going to take credit for that, it was a mounting kit for a 32 radiator that i got from vintage ford. might have to do the valve spring thing on the next one though, it is a good idea

Is there any way you can post some pics of how the visor comes together at the corners? Good job. Did you use a Mac's wood kit?

really was a good idea at the time, but over the years the ingenuity (and parts) were lost, here's the best pic I could find, though there is a much better one of the kit installed in the Sacramento Vintage Ford print catalog, page 191
