Hot Rods 40 ford deluxe ,hood swap ?

having trouble finding a deluxe hood ,will a 39 car hood fit ?? i have tried several dealers including dennis carpenter , no luck ...............

 

A '39 hood will not work for a '40 Deluxe.

 

A 39 Deluxe hood will bolt right on, but the 40 Deluxe hood is shaped differently at the front of the hood. The 39 Deluxe is shaped like a 40 standard at the front of the hood

They were so common when I was a kid that 3 guys could fit in one flipped upside down. They would tie a rope from the hood to the back bumper of a pick-up and go for a sled ride along a snow covered road!

 

There was one on the face book market place in Alabama near the coast recently. listed for 550$.
There is one hear abouts that is black lacquer
with nice louvers. Offered the fellow 1,500$ for
it. Could not buy it. He likes it hanging in his garage.
No forty just the hood. Wall art.

That is a common misconception. The 40 standard and 39 deluxe are different at the nose. They will fit on a 40 deluxe and are interchangeable but if you use a 39 deluxe hood, you have to use a 39 deluxe grille. If you put a 40 standard hood on then you have to use a 40 standard grille.
