Ah yeah...a little bit of everything indeed. Nice collection!

  3. Still looking for kit like car my uncle gave me.
It was a 47,48 or 1949 Buick you could change from fast back to an open car or to a coupe.
With a metal frame and a wind up or battery powered motor.
I think it was about 12' long.
Boy Oh Boy have I looked for that car.
My uncle was in the US Navy so He must have picked it up at the Navy Exchange.
That would have been in the early 50's

These have been on my "bucket List" for years. Finally found one I could afford and before you know it, I found a second. One will stay the other will go after I get a bit used to having two of them after a long wait

The latest toy of interest is Hot Wheels. I destroyed quite a few of these in my childhood and recently read up on the "Sweet 16". They are the first year release so I started hunting on ebay. Not looking for mint, just "ok" ones at a cheap price trying not to get carried away. Then I got the Spoiler series...then some of the next years release. Then some of the Club cars. Then I started to build customs. Had to put the brakes on.

    Some impressive photos!

Between the hoarders and the pro collectors, I really can't afford the prices vintage toys now command and still have money left for anything else, like my real cars. I have managed to snag a few prized items over the years, including a truly mint collection of late 60s Lesney Matchbox and Hot Wheels redlines (identical to those I had when I was a kid) but that's about it.

Sorry I missed this when you posted it a year ago. The toy you're looking for is called a KAR-KIT, made by Toy Founders Inc of Detroit. I got one for my birthday in 1951, and I have collected several as an adult. Put a search on eBay for Toy Founders; they turn up fairly frequently and sell for about $100 for a reasonably complete one. If you're interested, I could post some pictures of mine tomorrow.

I think most of these are from a company called "Manoil", aren't they? I've never seen the blue one before -- looks like it's supposed to be a Packard.

I'm addicted to tin toys...admitting it is the 1st step. I've kind of stopped buying them since getting my coupe. Most of the x-tra cash now goes to car parts. Here's a couple of pics...

I've been looking for one of these for YEARS. last weekend at a toy fair I spotted this one, but it's a Jr, and the guy wanted too much for it. I know I'll be kicking myself for not getting it, but I want the big sized one. Until I saw this one, all I had was a fuzzy memory. Funny how your childhood picks your career, I've been in the auto body business for years.
    Anybody got one of these?
