Do you think that the short main shaft of the Jeep T-176 would fit in the T-170 gears and transmission ?

I will still be using the stock Model A rear with 3.78 gears and 21" radials.
According to the GrimmJeeper gear ratio calculator, with the T-176 I should be going 71 mph at 3000 rpm and 59 at 2500. 71 is as fast as I'm interested in going with mechanical brakes, even with the Flathead Ted kit... maybe a bit faster than I want, haha. I don't see any need for overdrive at this point, but I can always add taller rear gears if I decide to reduce rpm's.

    Very handy calculator.

I think it will fit all the Ford top loader 4 speeds. I did quite a bit of research a couple years ago and that is what I recall, but my recaller sometimes lies to me.
Beanscoot or someone else may know for sure.
