I saw that car in South Bend a few years ago at the meet. I believe the back half is from a PT Cruiser. I have pictures of it at home, I will post them up later.
Looks like someone did a lot of work,I don't recall ever seeing one in the past, almost appears as though a old dodge panel may have been used for parts to create the Stude, regardless it's a nice piece. HRP
As promised. I realize now that this one is a different car. I think this is the one made from a PT Cruiser.
This one is similar to the car originaly posted. This could have been made by a coach builder back in the day.
Beautiful trucks. Not much distance between the headlights. Hudson built some handsome trucks as well.
Have three PT' and a few Stude's....just not thinking there's enough PT for a build on a President or Commander chassis........
The car in the original post was built, here in Missouri, by Ford Stoecker. He combined a '37 Studebaker 4-door sedan with the back of a '50 Dodge humpback delivery.
This is the one in the original picture- this is during the build. Was never offered by Studebaker- this one is front half 1937 Studebaker President sedan, rear half 1936-38 Dodge hump-back delivery. Comes from Pennsylvania I believe.
The photo in your link, from an earlier post, has Missouri plates on it. Everything meshes except the Pennsylvania connection.......Glad to know the history of the car/truck. I love 'Phantom' builds when they are well done, as is this one. Ray
A recent write-up on a 1937 Studebaker Express in car kulture Deluxe(October 2019) had my attention until I read that maybe only 100 of 3000 produced are left. Prices for restored and unrestored are very expensive. I saw one of these in restored condition at the Studebaker Museum last year.and another at the Gilmore Museum. Here is an article on the car https://www.hotrodhotline.com/shaun-salehyans-1937-studebaker-truck-franklin#.XbfFA9ZS9hE
Ford told me he used the rear portion of a 1950 Dodge delivery. He formed the front portion of the roof to transition between the two rooflines and mimic the humpback Dodge (and earlier Rockne) deliveries.
The primered truck and the painted truck are the same one .i know the truck and the owner well , both are class acts, both are from Missouri ,and it was built here.ford unfortunately for the rest of us has moved away. Man what a cool guy , we all miss him !!!!!!!
Here’s the Express truck from the Gilmore. Was there several months ago. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
