The Moody Blues were damned cool… but I think I prefer the Woody Blues

 

My daughter posted an illustration on Instagram she said was "inspired by a couple of my pieces" . In turn, her drawing inspired me...

This is my daughters art piece. It has an old car so it is fitting here..



I think this is one of the drawings that inspired hers.

HALLOWEEN SPECIAL
Hello,

Halloween is upon us again. The stores had their displays out very early, along with their gobs of candy packets and accessories. The grocery stores had their own aisles, just for the Halloween paraphernalia and more candy. I am sure dentists love this particular celebration. The family doctors, not so much. As teenagers, we were out of the nighttime Trick or Treating, but would raid our mom’s stash of Halloween candy before we left for a night’s escapades.

Our involvement in hot rods and drag racing always plays into the Halloween scene. Back in 1959, October was the month my brother started to think about a different involvement in drag racing. (Other than with the 58 Impala) We had seen plenty of other classes race and the closest thing for us skill wise and money wise was to make a street legal hot rod with a big motor. A dual purpose hot rod for daily use to high school and my brother’s job. That was fine with me as I was almost ready to get my driver’s license.

It was my thoughts of a first time car for me. Since my brother had the Black 1958 Impala since new, he was thinking of a station wagon or van as a tow vehicle. So, now, it was possible that I would buy the 58 Impala from him. Yes!!!

There were several cars with the orange color theme at the drags. But, one had to be careful so as NOT to be locked into a “Halloween Hot Rod” mode. The drawing was what it would look like if an SBC 671 powered Fiat Altered Coupe came charging down the dragstrip on Halloween weekend.

A hand saw I painted for my boss. His brother crushed his starliner while he was away at college. Oops....then I think there was a fight, which he won't talk about.

Years ago my Mom and I had an embroidery business, I did the digitizing and sewing. Made this in '97, still wear it today.
