Here’s some shots of an engine for a project. I need to add a water pump and starter to it but do not know the year of the block. It’s a 394 (supposedly) and I was told the block was early 60’s but I haven’t found any water pump for it yet. IMG_1999.JPG

Look into finding a crankshaft too! Without that, the water pump is not needed.

Definitely 394, marine timing cover looks to bolt up like the '59-'62 iron car cover.
Engine number is stamped on the head, at top of center exhaust port flange, hopefully those are the original heads..

  6. I was going to say Marine timing cover...

You need a car timing chain cover and water pump.

Ok, lots of smart-assed comments (which I don’t mind ), the heads are not original but you can drive a medium sized car through the ports so they are staying.
The beneficial information was that it’s a marine timing cover, so I guess I’ll need a car timing cover too. Don’t worry, I’ve got the rest of the engine too.
Anyone have a car timing cover they would part with?
