62 Dodge Dart- Want to Keep the push button factory shifter 440 being built - @GOATROPER02 estimation just under 600 hp.,
Definitely need a big block 727, I believe the internals are the same push button to column/console shift. I forgot the part that it does need to be a push button trans. I was referring to the clutches etc. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
You want a 65 727 they still used the cable shifter linkage even though they did not use push buttons but the button setup can be used and the 65 used a cross and roller U joint. It is the only year that both are used and you can push start the car the rear pump lasted through 66.
You might try this http://www.2040-parts.com/vintage-m...sh-button-trany-big-block-1965-only-i1100804/
Yep, 65 was only year that used the cable shift and 'normal' front slip yoke and u-joint. I think the 65 tailshaft and housing can be used with 63/64s also.
No help here, it just reminded me of running a 63 Dodge demo derby car with the push buttons and getting hit while going from D to R, my fingers were shoved about back to my elbow!!
So, go on a Sunday so you don’t miss work or send your wife or kid to get it or arrange a H.A.M.B. relay.... 9 hrs away is not so bad. Driving is only driving......
Apparently that (2040 parts) is a third party link to eBay auction that’s not there any longer. There’s much internet banter about the place 2040 parts being a scam and fishing site posting expired EBay listings.
$1495 but ready to go http://727specialist.com/ I use searchtempest to look at craigslist two show up one in Minneapolis for $350 and one in St. Louis for $500
There is most likely a big block push button trans in a local old junkyard in Dayton if you are willing to travel, will be going back there in a couple weeks and can give you a tour of the place.
I think some Winnebago motor homes also used the cable shifted big block 727 trans but I'm not sure what kind of yoke they take. I believe they were used (along with 413 engines) into the early 70's even.
I have 2 cable shift B727 torqueflite tyranny's. A 62 and a 63. The travel distance would be about the same as Columbus.
All of the motor home 727s I've seen had the parking brake on the output with a bolt on driveshaft flange.
