    Welcome to the hamb!

This is a hot rod site, why would you want the original awful green color on your engine? :)

Hi. I always liked that green. My old 53 convertible I had back in late 50's - early 60's had that and it & I thought it looked nice with the chrome acorn nuts on the heads with silver heat paint on the exhaust manifolds. To each his own though. My 53 was painted in that mid 50's Olds metallic green and it went well for contrast.

  5. Don't listen to 'em. It's your truck so you're the king.
Besides, it's not like it's a SBC...... it's only a Ford flathead*.

*I'm joking so quit swinging that wrench.

  6. Flathead's always look good any color you want to paint them, I prefer red, after all this is a hot rod site. HRP

Red is correct for Rougue 8RTs to 1952.

  8. As the Rolling stones said; "paint it black "! Looks nice with polished aluminum heads and intake... seriously though, depends on whether this will be a hot rod or a restoration!

  11. Paint it any color you want. The thing that really counts is that it runs top notch.;):)

Ford Blue looks great! Black sheds more internal heat than the other colors according to posted info.

I have been stuck on this color... Cast Iron Coat by duplicolor engine paint. Last 3 motors I have done this base color with whatever accent has been amazing and folks loved it. This is my own little sbc… the intake needs to be broken down stripped and painted right and redone but that's a later date..

Next you'll figure out that you can clear coat the bare cast iron, and folks will like it even more!

    :)

(I can't stand "cast iron gray", I like bright colors on engines)

Whatever color you want. I personally like a bronze or gold look.

  19. The green flathead pic above appears to be a lighter shade of green then on my '40, which I like a lot.
The 8BA in my p/u is Ford red (been in my p/u 10 years now, so not near as pretty anymore).
Regardless of color you choose, make it your choice.
