Have you done this before oil pump Drive is probably not lined up Sent from my SM-J737T using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
turn the crankshaft two revolutions, see if that fixes it. Or pull it out and look and see what's up.
LOL. You guys are the best. I was getting the oil pump shaft backwards in my mind. It dropped right in. Sent from my SM-G930V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I had this happen to me once, kicked my ass for a few days. trouble was the drive shaft was too long. it was made from a 1/4 hex key, one of those long reach T-handles. The new distributor was MSD and the depth of the female part was less than the one that came out.
How thick is that intake gasket? (see photo). Huge gap between horizontal plane of block to intake and what's left for engagement of oil pump is small compared to normal.
I think I'd be doing some measuring, I assume this is mockup judging from the intake. There doesn't look like there is very much engagement into the oil pump drive shaft. Maybe the actual distance is greater than the photo allows but the distributor should have very positive engagement into the oilpump driveshaft, more than what I see in the pic.
