i don’t have a pic for some reason but I saw a Riley overhead setup this weekend tucked away for over 30 years and the heads said Riley racing and they were not block, they looked scribed or etched. He thinks it is from 1935. Any I can’t seem to find any pics of other Riley’s with this valve cover.

This photo shows valve covers with a script logo, I think it was only used on the four port heads but I don’t know that for a fact.

Here's a pic of my Riley 4 Port! It's aluminum and much later. I think the early ones were cast iron.[IMG][IMG]

Here's an original 2 port I saw on craigslist with the block lettering.[IMG]

  6. This is a cast iron 1935 head. Smaller intake ports than the 32 to 34. 20180807_151338.jpg

The pictures tell the story. Those Four Port heads have script logos and the Two Port block letter. Also, a close look shows the 2P has a straight side on the valve cover by the ports while the 4P has a gentle radius on the side closest to the ports making them non-interchangeable.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I am after this but the owner wants a lot for it, more than I have seen on auctions and such. What is a down to earth price? Given I have seen it and it is all apart, he says all there but I can’t be sure. Been apart for 30+ years. He thinks he has gold.

  10. Finding a cast iron one without any damage is hard. Since it is apart look for busted rockers, check to see the valve seats are still useable. Was it modified for pressure oil to the rockers? If it looks good dig deep as these don't show up very often.

Not sure as I only got to see parts of it in his cabinet and he told me I was the only guy around that has seen where it has been hiding for 30 years. He says 5-6k, maybe more if he actually sold it. I think that is really high no? I have showed him some photos of auctions I have saved and he seemed shocked at the low prices. There is one on the auction site now for under 4. He is 80 years old.

  12. 5 or 6 I would have bought it already. There is a big price difference between a two and four port.

at that price I will probably be passing on it then. I guess I should have bid on this one that sold locally a few weeks ago.
