I'm about to swap a 39 transmission into a 1936 Ford. As I have the rear axle out anyway I've figured I can remove the transmission with the engine in situ but it's tight. Can anyone who's done it this way advise me if I need the raise the rear on the engine a little bit? I'll remove the UJ of course, but does it come out with the rear transmission mount still attached? Thanks Ed Sent from my SM-G935F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Trans mount stays on. You'll definitely have to support the rear of the engine, as once you pull the trans there's nothing holding it up. Talk to 6 guys and you'll probably get 6 different ways to do it, but I like to pull the floorboards and put it in from the top (on a truck, might be too much a PITA on a car?). I find I have way more control, etc. and they go in easy for me that way.
only way is remove floor support engine ,I use a bracket I made that sits on the radius rods to support the engine undo the bolts out she comes , long time ford drivers are used to this lol
Yes I've got the floor out. So yes I'll need to support the engine of course. Then just pull the transmission back and up land out eh? It's a convertible with the seat out so I've plenty of room inside. Sent from my SM-G935F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
You're halfway there! Don't forget to disconnect the clutch linkage, I've forgotten that and it's a bitch when you remember with the trans dangling from your fingertips.
