Fry - what an amazing car and and amazing job you did yourself! Can I ask what brakes you are running? Also, where did you get that master cylinder? I'm having an old 'survivor' Model A hot rod redone and the overall look of the engine compartment is very similar to yours. Mine is a 283 SBC out of a '57 Chevy. I was planning to ditch the old 'helmet' style air cleaner in favor of a newer, oval-shaped 'finned' air cleaner cover, but I may keep the old one after seeing how cool it looks on your car!
Thanks so much, I got the M/C with my pedal setup from Rjays speed shop. They also matched the slave for me. I think Napa would work, just not exactly which year 60s chev pickup you would have ask for, as I believe that’s what they are from.
Awesome, awesome thread!! Excellent fabrication work. I love the 327. I'm in a similar boat, been on the HAMB for a long time but only started a build thread in the last few years. I searched Kijiji for almost 2 years to find a buildable small journal 327. I know what you are saying about getting parts shipped to Canada from the States, between the exchange rate and duty it makes everything way more expensive. I try to use Canadian vendors whenever I can.
They have a lot of cool stuff. I’ll discuss with the builder... Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Had a few days of warm weather and was able to put on the first 100 miles. Works great, haven’t come across anything surprising yet. The bias ply warnings I heard seem unjustified. Did my first run down the highway, no alignment and tracks perfectly straight, no wandering, can take hands of the wheel and it stays deadly straight at 60 mph. Weighed it, without driver exactly 1240 pounds on each axle. Crazy that it’s that balanced. (With 1/3 tank of fuel). Lots of power, decimated the tires through all the gears. Pretty happy how it’s turned out so far.
What a great looking hot rod. Congratulations on getting it on the road, quite an accomplishment to finally be able to drive it !
Haha. Yeah. Both the kids love riding in it. Somewhat makes me regret not building a Tudor though. Though the one on one time makes it special for each one. I snapped this pic from our first highway trip. Such a cool vibe with the sun.
Hell of a shot. SAVE that one and show her when she hits her twentys or so or when she has kids of her own. THAT is what memories are made of.
Seriously one of THE best pix on the HAMB EVER. This is what it’s all about! Excellent build, great post, and a happy ending. Thanks for sharing Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Thanks, that really means something as it is a special picture to me, and one that sums it all up. It represents all the long nights and hard work paying off.. seeing them enjoy it as much or more than me. They are both so proud of me and the car. I’ve had a couple offers from guys wanting to buy it since I’ve started driving and my answer stays the same, “only for more than either you or I think it’s worth”.
Here’s a couple of random pics/updates.. Couple of shots from around town, Took it to my boys kindergarten class for show and tell. Rolling over 800 miles. New removable top installed today just in time to test it out in the rain.
Priceless @Fry...thanks for continued sharing of your Pride and Joy and I see theres no shortage of scenery to use as a backdrop to vintage cool...
Just read the whole thread, been putting that off since I found it. Thanks for sharing your vision coming to life. I completely understand worrying about being too wordy, I have the same problem on my build thread. Some want to read the logic behind your action, some only want to see pictures. Great job, glad to see you are enjoying it and the kids are enjoying it right along with you. SPark
That's a really nice coupe. It turned out great. Looks like you and your kids are loving it. I'll be watching for your reports on your trip out to Deuce days and back. Should be a great adventure.
