Not that long ago anything you listed for sale on eBay sold. I had some old parts I was thinking of scraping, put them on eBay and just about everyting sold. Not so much now I've had lots of good stuff on there with no bidders.

I have noticed the impact Facebook has had on the traditional online sites and buying and selling in general. A decade ago eBay, Just Cars and Just Parts were king in the online world. Over the last five years the whole online sales world has been turned upside down with Facebook.

eBay created Gumtree to arrest it’s decline but Facebook still continues to grow through the buy/sell groups. I belong to at least a dozen with at least five specialising in buying and selling pre fifties parts and vehicles. One of those is solely dedicated to buying and selling Model As, another is strictly for 33/34 Fords. My favourite group is the Aussie HAMBERS group which as the name suggests is the Australian Facebook group for the HAMB.

Niche buy/sell groups make it much easier to sell parts, but if anything, they have the effect of keeping prices in check. I often think I should try and sell on the more traditional buy/sell sites before I post anything on the Facebook buy sell pages but the reality is most people seem to spend most of their time on Fb these days to the point where everything else is in decline.

I have noticed some things have come down in price, the reality is that if a seller posts something too high on an Fb group, other members are only too quick to express their bemusement. When eBay was king, this kind of online scrutinism was not played out for the amusement of other members.

Guess it's time to take my roadster apart & sell a part at a time. It's been for sale over a year & only 2 low ball offers & a few "I'll trade my great project & a little bit of cash for your running, driving, near perfect, all steel Roadster"!! Guess the kids can sell it at a yard sale with the rest of "old" stuff in the house & garage.

  5. I've noticed a real drop off on Craigslist as well. Used to see old stuff on there, lately nothing. Of course the fall/winter is more when people get rid of stuff...

  6. CL started charging
could be the reason for the drop off

  7. Ive been selling on Facebook and at present I am doing much better than any other place where ive advertised stuff. and there is no fee to sell on Facebook.

Nice. Maybe I need to look at Facebook a little closer.

So far as I know, Craig's List is still free here.
We have another popular site for just my city with thousands of car parts, but oddly when I was searching for some popular late model off topic stuff there was almost nothing. I was advised to check Facebook, but I'm not too keen on setting up an account.

While it is steel it is not Ford steel. It is somewhere between a fiberglass car and a real steel car in value.
If it has been for sale for 2 years and it has not sold then that should tell you something- it's is overpriced for currnet market conditions.
I have a '34 Phaeton, a roadster and a cabriolet that are 100% Ford steel and worth about half what I paid for them years ago.
Get used to it, it's only going to go lower from here.

I get it , but sometime back I looked at my unstarted/unfinished projects and decided I wasn't going to live long enough to do them all. Based on the idea that I really only needed two; one to drive and one to tinker with in my spare time, I decided to sell the rest. If I find something that I like better than what I have, I'll trade, sell what I have for what I want.
One comment on pricing; I sell every year at Kalamazoo swap and I notice that no one looks at the stuff that is not blasted, primed, polished, painted or brand new. If that's what you want, it's going to cost more.

I like the old with no dressing. I want to see what it needs and probably 99.9% of the time it will not be the right color anyways.

I was just looking in the wanted section here and dickster27 is looking for small base 2 G carbs. I looked at my stock and thought hummm.... then I thought nope. Why sell them and not have them when/if I need them . I have side and end inlet . 3 ducey with intake .
