The Glory of Steam. I'm 80 years old and have always been fastinated with steam locomotives. As a kid, my dad would put me on the train (by myself, I was 10 to 12 years old) at Union Station in L.A., to visit my aunt in San Francisco, traveling on the Southern Pacific "Daylight". Some say that the S.P. "Daylights" were the most beautiful trains ever built.

I realize that hot rodders like steam locomotives (who doesn't?). Now, here is my dilemma, I have collected some great photos of steam locomotives, from all over the country, all from the early 1930's through the 1950's. The issue is that in most of the photos, there are no cars or trucks in the photos. I know the rules and I have no intention to become a violator, so I'm looking for some feedback from the moderators on this. I could include them on this thread or start another thread, whichever. I have seen some threads regarding wooden boats on the HAMB, that had no vehicles in the photos, but need some advice from "the management".

The first photo (circa 1949) shows George Salih and Louis Meyer with their supercharged midget engine in a Kurtis Championship car chassis that later became the Belanger Special.

The next photo shows and interesting engine in a midget that I can't identify?

And the last one shows Tony Bettenhausen in the rear drive Novi at Indianapolis in 1957; probably on a qualifying day since the cars are parked diagonally. The Qualifying line at the far south end of the (then) new pits took up a lot of room so cars were pitted sideways to make room for everyone wanting to go out for the morning Practice session.
