That was the end of an era, no more "camel humps" or "fueler heads", it was when GM began offering heads for serious racers, for both drag racing and roadracing, these were based on the 69 Z/28 302 and LT-1 350 head, don't know who coined the name but the hot head casting of that period was now referred to as a "Turbo" head, not clear why though.

IIRC, the new 'turbo' heads were angle plugs. FWIW, I'm keeping my measly 186s, still bolted to the block they came on...:D

Nothing wrong with the 186's, I had a pair of 2.02's on a drag car 355 sbc in the early/mid 70's and a pair of 1.94's on my street 357 small block.

Another one! Trying to decode & get specific specs to an engine that came in my 85' C10 short bed (not the original motor). It's a 3970010 with C4B114451 V1005TMR. I've come up with a 350, 4 bolt, Flint origin, Oct. 5th..... I know it was built 5.0L but honestly not sure if the new one is or 5.7. I'm looking for specs, what it came from & year hopefully but any info to get me there helps.

    C4B means it's a 1974 chevy truck engine. It's a 350, that's the only thing they used the 010 block for in 1974.

Was told it came out of a truck between 1990 to 1994 model. I figured the "M" was Mexico and "0326" was March 26th. I can't find anything on the "2VP"?

probably a GM crate motor made in Mexico (they said "hecho en mexico" on the back of the block), there are lots of folks asking about what it is on the internet in various places.

I don't know which version it is. Looking at features of the engine might help you figure it out. One or two piece rear seal? center bolt or perimeter bolt valve covers? roller cam or no?
