Just my take on Mothers Day/ I'm older than my mom when she passed away and I sure wish I could pick up the phone and call her, if your mom is still alive make sure you take her to dinner or at least give her a call. HRP
Hello, Nice sedan and photo. Our mom was the thing that always took our side in an argument or family discussion. As the younger of two boys, I was the apple of her eye. But, growing up, the oldest son got all of the attention and adoration at big family gatherings with the cousins and relatives. Was that fair? My mom told me when we were adults, that she wanted 5 kids, including 2 girls. After the first rambunctious boy and another one growing up fast, right behind the older guy, that was enough for her to last a lifetime. Ha ha ! What a lifetime it was... 57 BUICK... Since my brother moved away to college and then later got married first, I was left at home to get all of her, so called "wisdom." Ha... but, the wisdom flew in one ear and out of the other teenage ear. She did provide me with one lasting impression among many second generation, old wives tales... "ENDURE." I am sure if she could endure the trials and tribulations of two teenage boys causing her all sorts of grief, then anyone close to her could do the same. My wife has always thought the same and we are still together... Jnaki Thanks, Mom... I was responsible for teaching her to drive a 3 speed stick shift 1958 Impala with a heavy duty clutch and all of that power. My brother wanted no part in that episode. It was fun and harrowing at the same time. Out comes the clutch pedal, bounce goes the Impala, with more throttle, off we go to the races in 2nd gear. Backing up, that was another story. Two weeks of a hair raising adventure caused her to offer to pay to change the Impala stick shift to an automatic transmission. (and an automatic transmission it was...a C&O stick hydro!!!) Happiness is not having to drive with three other ladies and just join in the rapid fire conversations using the local gossip. 4 ladies out for a spin...
Dave, thank you for this thread. My Mother Dolores, raised six kids by herself, her love of hotrods, customs and race cars is why I do what I do today. Her favorite race driver was the great Len Sutton, I wish she could have lived long enough to see Len "wheel" a couple of the track roadsters I built. She also had a passion for 49-50 Oldsmobiles, and loved to race from traffic lights, anyone who even acted like they wanted to try. We lost her almost 40 years ago at 56. Happy Mothers Day, Mom.
One of the few pictures I have of my Mom with me. I was the youngest of 4 kids and about 19 Months old when she passed. Thanks to our Dad, Grandmothers Aunts and Uncles who helped raise us and kept the memory of our Mom alive, I would say we all turned out OK. Our 91 year old Uncle who was my Moms youngest Brother is the last of his generation. He and I spend time together and he often shares stories about our Mom with me. On this Mothers Day I celebrate the life she had and the wonderful legacy she left knowing Mom will always be with me in my heart.

It's going to be a different show when the 70's moms in braless tops, and mini skirts are shown hanging around muscle cars!
I called mine today. Here's some pictures of the both of us together. The last picture is of us at In N Out burger in Tucson last month. We had lost contact for 40 years, and I was able to get reacquainted with her.
You guys can say what you want about your Moms . But I'll tell you I had THE BEST Mom ! here she is sending my little brother down our steep driveway on our new "Flexy Flyer" with me & my sister right there ! we lost her to soon , she was 56, & I was 20.
Many of you had Hotrod/Race/Custom Moms...that's pretty cool...if not that's okay too your not alone...whatever the connection may you all celebrate what she is or was in your life...
Here's a pic of myself and my mum beside my 39 Deluxe Ford, taken mid 70's.. Between her and my dad, they convinced me to keep the 39 on the road, and not cut the body off to make a beach buggy.. Great memories.. She passed in 2003..
Born in 1918 and passed in 1953 at the age of 35 but she had a huge impact on all the lives she touched in those years.
My Mom was something else. She reminded me of Lucy Ricardo. Here is a better picture of her in the 49 Plymouth showing her personality.
Lots of lovely ladies in this thread. Here's a few of my favorite moms from this last Christmas. My mom in the passenger seat of the A, my mother-in-law Peg in front, and my wife, who celebrated her first Mother's Day this year, on the running board.
Sadly, I lost my Mom 17 years ago to Parkinson's. She always enjoyed riding in my '34 Coupe and would chuckle every time that I hit second gear and the tires would "chirp". Fortunately, I still have my wife and her Mom to share my cars with. Here's the "girls" in the Hot Rod Grille Garage celebrating Mother's Day. Jim
My Mom bought a new '64 Impala SS with her 1st Grade teacher's salary: I'm the little guy in the middle.
Here is my mom with me and my sister on Easter Sunday 1953 with our 49 Ford coupe. . She is gone but I can still hear her voice in my mind.
Good stuff, I'd have to dig through all of dad's old photos to find one of mom with a car but if it had wheels on it she could drive it. That included my 51 Merc when I was in high school that she would drive when I didn't because the gas was cheaper and the gas mileage was double what he 58 Merc Colony Park got. She is 92 and my kids took her, my wife and I to dinner yesterday.
Being a owner of a couple of Panheads... I really like that picture. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
