need help figuring out what rear end to use to swap out the 456 geared way to low for driving down the road I have a rebuilt 1956 235 in it now kept the original 4 speed non synchronized what like to be able to keep the 6 lug rims

 

Your truck is a 1/2 ton if it has 6 lug wheels, and the ratio is 4.11 ... easiest would be 16'' wheels & a pair of 265 or 275 x 16'' radials. You can sometimes find 3.55 ring & pinion gears for that axle depending on who's importing them at any given time.

 

I've got a 57 rear for sale in Buffalo NY, I heard rumor you can use it to convert yours to open driveline, it's 62 inches wide at wheel mounting surface if you want to change the whole thing out.

 

That’s what I’m looking for any rear end from 1955 to 1962 will fit how much are u asking

 

I have it in the classifieds here and craigslist for $75 or a reasonable offer.
