    need help figuring out what rear end to use to swap out the 456 geared way to low for driving down the road I have a rebuilt 1956 235 in it now kept the original 4 speed non synchronized what like to be able to keep the 6 lug rims

    Your truck is a 1/2 ton if it has 6 lug wheels, and the ratio is 4.11 ... easiest would be 16'' wheels & a pair of 265 or 275 x 16'' radials. You can sometimes find 3.55 ring & pinion gears for that axle depending on who's importing them at any given time.
     
  3. I've got a 57 rear for sale in Buffalo NY, I heard rumor you can use it to convert yours to open driveline, it's 62 inches wide at wheel mounting surface if you want to change the whole thing out.
