Over on the Ford Barn there is a thread about rake on a 39 Ford and rear end grease running forward ruining the center bearing. Do most of you guys put a seal in the torque tube at the rear to stop this or don't worry about it? I see Bruce's Rod Shop markets one. Must be quite a job to install?

John Swander also makes one. I think he is Swanwaco on the HAMB

I dont think it ruins the centre bearing, but the rear end gets low and the trans gets way overfull and messy with 750x16 rears 550 fronts and a 4” drop I beam.
Sea Bright hot rods make a seal ,as does I think Vern Tardel. Probably others.

I bought a Tardel oil dam a dozen years ago. It's not a seal per se, it's a tube with a reverse tube that fits inside the torque tube. Basically a trap for the oil that keeps it in the rearend. I have a 32 rearend and it didn't actually fit my application (probably built for a 40 rearend), so I never installed it.

I believe @CTaulbert has experience with this, as well.
