    Hi guys,

I got a 62 cadillac and my vent tube which comes out of the gas tank is leaking. I have posted a picture below. Hope someone can chime in. Thanks!

Sounds like a basic tool kit project to me, maybe a picture or two would at least give us a clue what we are trying to help with. ;)

If you have the vent pipe, see what size open end wrench fits it snug. That should tell what size hose to look for and do make sure it is fuel hose.

I think it's a 5/8 hose. I'm not sure if the vent pipe is wrenched in on to the tank or the 5/8 hose is holding the vent pipe with those two clamps. Hmmm...... I might wake up at 6:30am to give it a try tho. Autozone opens up at 7:30am, and I need to go to work at 11:00am. I hope I make it.

I'm just saying see what size wrench fits the outside of the vent pipe.

Thanks guys great thread. it's funny that it's the small things on my car that seem to sometimes stump me. Got a project car and was wondering about this while installing the gas tank.

  15. Fyi some emissions hose is 19/32" design to fit on a 5 /8" barb. It is available by the foot at your local AutoZone and others. ...

Well I tried looking for a 5/8 fuel rubber hose at Autozone, Oreillys and wasn't able to find them on Sunday, but i did get online on Monday night and found it at another Oreilly's store. I haven't been able to go cause of work, but I was able to make a temp solution. I ended up cutting the hose where it had the crack and just moved it over. I've used one of those clamps with a screw and snugged it in tight. It's gotten me buy so far just to go to and from work. Waiting for the weekend, so I can buy the damn hose,, and replace it. I might just end up using those clamps with the screw in them to snug em in. Not sure if the regular clamps make a difference vs the clamps with screws.

  18. Factory spring clamps vs worm gear clamps.......they both work

Awesome thanks for the confirmation. I ended up getting the worm gear clamps two of them right now and a foot of the 5/8 hose at oreilly's I was able to get about a foot for $2.29 Here's the part number in case anyone runs into this problem in the future. PART # 27008
