Projects Just another Black Model A

I just got home from a Halloween party and drove the model A.
Wife sure was glad I put electric heaters in the seat Lol

This will probably be the last ride of the season, I am shifting things around to get my truck back in the garage. Unfortunately we only had 1 day above 60 this past month, so I did not get to painting the headlights again so that looks like it’s going to be a spring time project unless we get a Indian summer here in November. I really don’t want to setup a booth in the garage to just spray them. But I have things to keep me busy this winter.
Those truck headlights will probably work just as good!
That parts cabinet it is double sided and I use it just for bolts. I probably have more bolts than the hardware store lol it’s nice having everything right there

All great changes! Really like the headlights. Noticed you have something inside the carb scoops? Just a “plug” to keep the dust out when you’re not driving the car?

I am really liking the melding of the 36 Packard/37 Ford headlights - they are really a work of art.

what mods did you do to the hubcaps? did you chrome them? they are amazing. car looks better with them.

 

Thanks! I struggled to find what I wanted in the typical glass shift knobs so got a little creative.
I found it on eBay, it is just a decorative glass egg. It was unfortunately hollow but fairly thick so I filled it solid with epoxy and the custom stem I made goes all the way up to the top of the egg on the inside so there will not to stress anywhere on the glass, the glass does not touch the metal stem anywhere

 

The shocks both front and back are the British MG style from the 50's and up Armstrong makes them

 

Lots of work went into making them work haha even though they are held on with a simple 3/8 bolt
Each wheel has a metal axle wheel hub cover that has a flange, I center drilled them and welded 3/8 nuts

I then took laminated wood and cut it on my milling machine and rotory table ( lathe would work also) to the angle of the hub cap and to the axle hub cover. This keeps everything centered

The hubcaps themselves get cut down to just the center section and then I polished them

They can be done other ways using paint to accent, I have extras that I may make for spares

 

My gosh, what an amazing hot rod!

I liked these screens because of them being larger for better air flow, I only run the screens no filters
