A friend just got a 59 Stude silver hawk parked since 77 (59000 miles)and a bunch of parts as well. There are a bunch of SW gauges-some new in box and this piece we don't know about--there is a McCullough supercharger in pieces as well Any IMG_2102.JPG idea what this is for? Thank you

I believe McCulloch became Paxton which is still in business.
The gauges were probably an accessory set of gauges that were part of the supercharger setup.
I say he got a real score in that box!

Those gauges would look very nice in my Avanti R2 with a Paxton Supercharger. Definitely interested if you decide to sell! Mike

McCulloch or Paxton superchargers were an option on Studebaker V8s from 1957 to 1963. Apparently you have one of the superchargers, and the accessory gauge package to go with it. I have 3 of the superchargers and would love to buy the gauges but probably couldn't afford them.

There were other parts that went with the supercharger . Supercharger mounting bracket, spring loaded idler pulley, engine crankshaft pulley, carburetor bonnet or enclosure, kickdown switch under the gas pedal, pipe to pressurize the fuel pump, electric fuel pump, and carburetor modified for supercharger use. You may have these parts as well, now you will know them when you see them. Any odd parts may be part of the supercharger install.

Those gauges might be worth more than you paid for the Hawk.:D:) A vacuum pressure gauge alone, no panel, sold on ebay for around $1300.00. You have a little gold mine there.

I have a McCulloch gauge similar to one of those
you show. It has a vacuum side and a supercharger
pressure side on the same face. Also a blue goose
looking bird like emblem on the face as well?

  14. Re: the other gauges that you have. do you have an EELCO water temperature gauge with silver, blue, and red face ? This is the one gauge that I need to complete my roadster instrument panel. I also would like to get an EELCO tachometer, and speedometer. I know that a pair was sold at the Los Angeles Roadster Show several years ago. Thanks, nick.

Come on man, I found the thing in the firewall facing the engine compartment. It was mounted in the large opening for a hot air type heater in a 40 coupe I bought.
It was covered by a metal bracket holding a coil. I am sure the seller was not aware of it being there. There is
no reason I can fathom for it even being in the vehicle
much less facing the motor. Kinda weird I thought.
