I can't see that anyone has put a thread up on the sad passing of Bear in a car accident last Saturday. Have a look at his build thread '36DD to see what a great talent he was. Page 22 of that thread has a nice eulogy from Greg Stokes. Thoughts and prayers with family, his wife in hospital from the accident. Russell
Sad news. I had a few conversations with him about his project. A great talent indeed... Condolences to his family.
Condolences to the Holmberg Family and Friends on this senseless loss...far to early and I perhaps am prejudging what happened but I'm going out on a limb and saying senseless fits the bill. May He Rest in Peace and thoughts are with his loved ones directly involved... Regards, Stogy
The article states both wife and daughter were taken to the hospital but only comments that the wife was in stable condition so my prayers go to the family but I also pray with all my heart that the daughter is healthy and stable also.
I really HATE to read about these sorts of accidents. We have far too many crossover/DUI type accidents in my county and surrounding areas. Put your phone down, put the drink down, pay attention to what you're doing! It did't say in the article what the wrong lane/way driver was doing, or had been doing, but we all know. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Extremely horrible situation. Thoughts and prayers are with the family his wife and daughter speedy recovery.
I am the last person to be able to put the appropriate words together, in the rite order for the family but as said my thoughts and prayer's are with Bears family. My thought's also wander to Bears '36, I hope I live long enough to some day log onto the HAMB to see that the family had locked up the '36, "moth balled it", and later in life finished it in memory of Bear. That would be a fitting ending to his "DD" build threads in my eye's.........................................
sorry to hear of this, so much talent lost ,...hope his family is doing well. ...hope they find out the cause of this accident,
"The article states both wife and daughter were taken to the hospital but only comments that the wife was in stable condition so my prayers go to the family but I also pray with all my heart that the daughter is healthy and stable also." The article I read said Charley(daughter) was treated and released and is with her mother in Auckland. Rest in peace Wayne and my condolences to the Holmberg family.
^^^ thank you fuzzface, the tragedy of losing one family member is bad enough. At least the daughter and wife are safe.
Just to clear things up Wayne's wife Sue is still in stable condition and still needs people's prayers and the daughter was treated and released. Both mother and daughter were flown to the same hospital originally but then the mother was transferred to a hospital in Auckland.
I'm sad to hear of Wayne's passing in such a senseless fashion. He was truly a metal master as evidenced in his fabrication skills and he had an eye for what was going to look good. His 36 3 window was progressing to be a real thing of beauty. Prayers to his wife and daughter.
I had just started reading with a lot of interest about the build yesterday, then is was like someone stabbed me in the heart. I am in tears about the loss of a talented member. I am so sorry and my wife and I will keep " Bears wife and daughter in our Prayers. Also about what everyone else said. Its a very sad time ! Ron.
Wayne was someone I was very proud to call my friend. Through the years we spent a lot of time helping each other with different projects. We spent one long weekend repowering his work ute and as a thank you he gave me one of his amazing drawings of my 34, something I have always treasured. It's heartbreaking to think we can no longer have one of our marathon catchup bull sessions. I miss you mate
