    Sickboyz wade

hi Dudes, building a 30A coupe and have decided on cowl steering, been searching for something in the UK where I live but alas people think I’m speaking in a foreign language, if anyone here can put me in touch with someone that has this bit of kit or has one they want to sell I’d be really interested, anyway here’s a couple of pictures of my build, not going to chop the top just yet, but who knows, all comments welcome

Lot's of opinions on cowl steering. Some love it, some not so much.
Just so happens I'm in the UK and might have a Shroeder cowl steering box with pitman arm and mounts for sale soon.
Send me a message if interested dude.

We here on the HAMB consider ourselves very fortunate to have a builder with the skill level that Pete Eastwood has post here. Please read what he has to say on this, no one is more qualified on this subject than he is!

  21. Are you doing Left or Right hand drive?

Right hand manual Sprintcar boxes are out there but hard to find.

  25. I like the look of cowl steering. Looked into it. Seems like others said it’s not a good idea. Here is a vid on a guy that does one. He actually has a lot of good videos in his series, but if you watch the very end when him and his buddy are sitting in the car, when he turns the wheel to the left, the entire front body of the car lifts. Not sure that’s a good thing...

Bump steer is the biggest problem with cowl steering. The people that have it and say it steers just fine have very little suspension travel. If it don't move a lot it won't bump steer.

Yep , that’s an interesting (scary) trait of cowl steering ,despite how he says its not fully fitted yet. Obviously a good engineer but the design not so.

The Caster is what is causing the chassis lift of either side, depending on which direction you steer. Less caster, less lifting. More caster, more lifting. This is why some cars steer so hard when parking if the caster setting is too much for things like engine weight, tire width, Scrub radius error, etc, etc.

Also in the video, he lets go of the wheel after turning one way, and the wheel spins back fast. That is caused by the caster, which causes that lifting. The spindle does not want to be there at full turn, due to caster, so when he lets go...it tries to go back to straight.
