I agree 100 % my buddies were part of the original in the late 90’s early 2000 and we were fanatics for period correct representations of what Gassers on the strip and street were during the hey day of the ‘60’s. On the street from around ‘67 into the ‘70’s were the street freaks rearing their ugly head. Since I’m old enough I can state for fact the ultra jacked up stance was the result of the12”inch or wider hides. Most guys had no clue how to properly radius the wheel opening It absolutely had th have those big meats on their street Gasser . The only way was tho jack up the rear to clear the tires and overbite the “STREET FREAK “ was created. In Amir this trend was extinguished by the cops with thousands of tickets for headlights too high , no mud flaps , etc.
My fear during the early interest in the Gasser revival was the street freaks appearing again . And of course it happened and this time world wide and even more freaky with 10 spoke wheels that never existed , dumb whitewalls , and always a blower and fuel tank hanging out in the wind. Not even close to reflecting how a true Gasser was equipped. Granted Everyone is having fun driving their freaks and that is what the hobby is about but they are not Gassers and the term is being worn out and over used . Builders of period hot rods know and strive for tradition in choice of parts , wheels, engines and speed equipment but the Gasser crowd now as you said so we’ll just buys a pile from eBay and orders from a speedway or Summit catalog

^^^Look at that black 56 Bel Air, 2 door hardtop^^^. F/Gas, with a 272 CID engine (that's just a little 265 with a .040 overbore), and it's just barely pulling the front tires off the pavement! I wonder what RPM he launched at, and where he made his shifts. Had to be screaming. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

I haven't looked through this thread for a while, and missed this one. It belonged to my friend, the late Kelvin Polonich out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He took a lot of gentle ribbing about this car as he was a dyed in the wool 55 guy, owning one of every body style of the cars and a few trucks as well.

Dan lagrou and Dennis Rinke. Both have been in auto engineering industry for yrs.. Dan, I think still lives here and Dennis is in Florida. I'm sure there's a relationship to the dealership family. Both of these guys have been friends of dads' for years. Yes, both from this side of town.
