Things are moving along pretty good. Henry installed a steel roof insert in the roof. He installed it in a way that he hasn't seen done before. It was an idea he had and wanted to try. The good news is it turned out awesome and the bad news is he doesn't want any pics posted of it until the car gets shown. We talked about painting the car shiney black and doing a full interior and taking the car for hotrod of the year. I have no desire to do that so I decided to stick with the old cracked and scratched paint. Here are a couple pics of where the car is now. About ready to come apart to paint the chassis and body work and paint the car. Trans tunnel is finished. This was made by Nelson who works for Henry. Such a talent for 21 yrs old. He's learning from the best. Steering column and seat placement is about all that is left to do before it all comes apart. OK, I know, apples and oranges, but I just have to say, maybe, BLACK!

  11. Definitely gloss. Something subtle that plays up the metalwork, instead of "HEY LOOK AT ME".

    1) First choice: Black.
    2) But if not black, then another old Ford color like maroon, brewster green, washington blue, etc., preferably single stage.
    3) Pick a new car color from the time frame you're trying to emulate (e.g. '57 Chevy color for a late '50's build). This gives it instant period-correct credibility.

    Here's some food for thought:

For that car, I don't think I'd pick from a production car color chart. Fitting for the wheels and other details, I'd look at Indy, sprint, and other race cars from the 1955 era. Bright colors, and maybe some of them would have a flavor not commonly seen today.

    60’s type build. Absolutely gloss.
I’d like to see the Ford Washington blue on it.

After thinking this over and talking to Henry and his Dad, (and my wife) a decision has been made. The decision is it has to be gloss and it has to be black. It will be awhile before this is done with body work and everything that has to be done yet so I probably won't be posting for some time. Maybe in the fall or so.

I don't think Henry will mind if I post these pics of the roadster he has been working on for himself. He did this late nights and weekends. He has been wanting a car to take to shows and cruies around in. Knocked it out of the park I'd say. 57319721_3349826125043092_7758757162075029504_n.jpg 58994436_3349826078376430_4065136109863043072_n.jpg 59675045_3351897258169312_2198540866300149760_n.jpg

This is where things are, almost back together and ready for interior. Sorry but this is all you get for now.
