I lived in northern Idaho when I was a kid (rural coeur d'alene area) and right across from our field, the previous owners had parked a bunch of their old cars in the forest to rot. Really good 30's to 50's stuff. There was a 30-somethin truck carcus with a tree growing through the floorboards that I had my heart set on. I asked my dad to sharpen a hatchet for me, so he "sharpened" the edge right off (I was 5). After a few days mawling the bark off the tree with that dull hatchet, I gave up. But I like to think that tree gave up too.

I have heard of growing trees from seeds but never seen one grown from a bulb.

 

May be a Dogwood, you can tell by the bark.

 

I agree it's a 54 Olds, and if there were two more of them there, could you call it a case of "three on the tree"?

 

Several years ago, one of my cousins came across a horde of old cars on a old home place. Most were Buicks, the oldest a 1940, the newest was a 1956, all were scrap metal, they had sat there too long to be anything but parts. There were a few other odd vehicles there too, a WWII Ford Jeep that I should've saved but didn't, a 26-27 T Tudor that I did save, a bullet nosed Stude 2 door, another I should have saved but didn't, and a 35 or 36 Ford truck without a bed. The cab was in great shape, the frame was almost rusted in two about middle ways, and there was a 12" pine tree growing between the frame horns and the intact front bumper. I was determined to get it, was planning on cutting the tree above the bumper, then below it. Walked up to it with chainsaw in hand running, put my foot on the bumper to brace myself, and the bumper fell off! Bolts were rusted away!

Tree came in handy afterall , I tied a chain to it up as high as I could reach, then hooked a come a long to the rearend and picked it up high enough I could back my trailer up underneath it, then sat it down on it. Never did anything with it, later traded it for a 47-8 coupe.

 

I need that parking light for a friends 56 Chev pickup.

 

I've seen a few similar tree VS car/truck situations. The tree almost always wins; someone wanted firewood, not an old car. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
