    Hi all,

I just came across notice of this auction in another forum, so I apologize for the lack of notice.

    Here's the auction web page:

    https://www.auctionzip.com/Listings/3200731.html

Near the bottom of that page are these listings:
    Engines

    427 Ford Side Oiler Stroker

    427 Ford Side Oiler Stroker

    427 Ford Side Oiler Stroker

Detroit Diesel 353 zero hours on rebuild,

Detroit Diesel 6-71 rebuilt at Keystone, 500 hours

    Some pictures:

I wonder what happens if you buy one and it turns out to be a 390?

  2. factory427's all have cross bolted mains. a visual inspection would verify them.

  4. I looked at the pictures and I really doubt that they are factory side oiler 427 engines. most likely stroked 390,s

  6. Even seeing the side bolts I would be skeptical.. Its possible to install cross bolt main caps in a 390 block by using a spacer.

  7. If I was within driving distance, I'd go look....

They may go relatively cheaply; this is an industrial auction, these are out of place (left over toys from the owner?). And one of them looks like it may be a tunnel-port, and that Weber set-up is worth big bucks too.

I seem to recall that the "side oiler" blocks had a visible bulge along the side of the block for the oil passage, which would confirm them as 427s.

They could also be early center oiler blocks,no bulge on the side

Mr. Chevrolet, even if you don't buy them, please try to note the selling prices, and other relevant details.

    Good luck!

All side oiler blocks have screw in freeze plugs IIRC. There will be no bargains whatever they are thanks to the internet.

the 427 with Webers brought $12,500. the other 2 with dual 4s, brought $10,500 each. the same guy bought both of them. there was also a pretty decent 72 chevy pickup that was all apart with a crate 502 & T400, it went for $9450

I didn't say that in a negative way. It's a good thing in spreading the word to guys looking for rare and popular stuff but almost always takes the resell buyers out. I have just about quit going to auctions unless there is something I NEED.

I still have the bad habit of searching out good junk, rather than spending the time going through my junk.

Wasn't there someone casting new reproduction 427 blocks in South Korea?

Personally I'd rather see someone who really wanted them for their own use pay a tad more at auction and get them then see a "reseller" get a deal and then turn around and jack the price up above what they went for at auction.
