Thanks for posting the pictures of Wheatley brothers "Heartbreaker" I will have to ask Buck why they did not use the large circle for the Trophy Winner 1967 I send to him on the windshield of the car. It really turned out beautiful and it brings back so many wonderful memories for someone who was just a teenager back in the mid 60's who loved watching Junior Stock race. Jimbo
Fuzzy up the couple OTs in the distant back ground, and that pic's "any strip USA" circa 63-65... '63s lookin' good Chucky.
I finally broke down and bought hearing aids. Drag races, shooting guns, and Viet Nam killed my hearing but I hate wearing them.
Wasn't that gold bel air in a build thread? I think it was called "Waiting for a train". Sent from my SM-G955U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yes it is. It was also started originally as a present day stocker. Think the motor had gone .6 under in another car. 220hp 283.
Buck Wheatley called and told me that they were just finishing it up over the past few months and yes it is a tribute car. It is not the original car that won at Indy in 67 or 68. I made most of the Contingency Size decals and the only one I did not see on the car was the 1968 Trophy Winner circle decal that would have been located on th passenger side.of the wind shield. Lamar's widow told me that Lamar saw the convert drive thru his home town, and chased it down. After some negotiations, he purchased the car and made this beautiful Class winning Stocker out of it.
Nice 60 Chevy Sedan Delivery Jr Stocker from Island Dragway 1969. I was the photographer. Wow what a great time back then.
This makes me want to build a junior stock tribute car, and dedicate it to a good friend who passed away a few years ago who loved racing. Sent from my SM-G955U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Photo originally posted by SEDANDELIVERYMAN. Great looking car. I just wanted to clean the pic up a little.
Picture came from Lamar Vaubels family. Looking like it is sitting outside the garage waiting for a fresh power plant.
So Vaubel owned one of the Monster Mash cars at some point ? Not sure which version is pictured, but doesn't (from picture anyway) to be a later version. One of the last one(s) had the body set back on the frame....pictured one doesn't look like it is set back. Or am I not seeing it right? OR... is it a "Monster Mash" copy by Vaubel
The black I/SA '56 is Dick Reighters(spelling?) old stocker running at Capitol Raceway in Crofton, Maryland. One of the first stockers I noticed and I lived near him when I first got my drivers license back in the stone age. Back when stock was STOCK !
I think the "Conti & Landeis Quick Delivery" car is at NY National speedway. I've seen that car but can't recall where. Pat
