Friends sent me these pics of an old car they spotted near their farm a few days ago. Any ideas what this is?
It will be interesting to see what this turns out to be, so I am in. When I first saw this picture I thought it was a Durant Star of the 20's. Headlight bar is correct, fenders are damn close, wood spokes even fit, even the grill shell is similar but the Star grill shell is a little different. Like I said will be interesting to see what it is.
Looks like an early 20's Dodge to me. I know it's always a Dodge, but this time I believe it's true. Mick
Facts are facts, and truth is truth. I say 1924 Dodge Bros , or thereabouts. They seem to be the only pre-war car I can identify. Clark, you might post it on the sitting anx rotting picture thread also.
Thanks guys! I was hoping for an ID before the Rose Bowl kickoff, and you didn't dissappoint. Consensus appears to be '24 Dodge Bros. Engine perhaps still in question. And yes, a better look at the hub cap would have removed much of the mystery. But the friends who alerted me to this are not car folk. I'm just glad they think of me whenever they spot something. I'll put it on the Sitting and Rotting thread for posterity.
.....what he said!...plenty there to save, if you don't want to build it just see if it can be bought and pass it on!
I'll definitely look into it. I got the impression they know the property owner. I'll bring my trailer next time we visit and see what can be done.
That's a 1932 Henway. You guys are slipping. This post has been up for 2 hours and all we have is serious posts. Is there a hamb wide new year resolution I dont know about?
Well, it looks like this is just the first one for the year, they must have built a lot of them, as many of them that seem to pop up here on the Dodge friendly HAMB
Nope, the engine is DB also. Serial number should be on a plate in the upper right hand corner on the passenger side floorboard, AND above the right shackle mount on the frame.
Dodge Brothers.I was at an antique auction(not car related) a couple of those wheels came up.Auctioneer kept saying the D B stood for Duesenberg !!!!!
Doug, I agree, for sure Dodge Brothers but what is up with the cowl? It looks to have nail holes and I see a lot of wood framing. Not a Fisher body is it? You would know. Dave
Not sure, it doesn't look like a coupe. It could be the illusive Fisher sedan? I'd like to see a better side photo.
