Yeah, I remember when I had my first drink!

 

Wonder what those Russian inventors where drinking when they thought this combo up ( 1947 Pobeda )

 

I'm always surprised to see so many convertibles in these old photos. I would have never guessed they where so popular way back when.

 

Automobile square dance?

 

The ice cream man in my neighborhood back in the late '60s and early '70s drove dirty, a beat up step van. He was short, kinda fat, hairy, had a crew cut, always had five o'clock shadow and usually wore "wife beater" undershirt as a shirt. As a kid, I always thought he looked like a scuzzy, low life version of Sgt. Carter from the Gomer Pyle t.v. show.

 

Wrecked Mauri Rose car after crash in 1946 Indianapolis 500 which he had led earlier. IIRC, Rose hit both the wall and the car of Paul Russo which had crashed earlier and had been left on the track supposedly out of the way. Sometimes leaving wrecked cars on the track while the race continued went on into the early 1950s.
