I have been looking for a thread on "lost" custom cars. A lot has been said about Roth cars, but I wonder about some of the well-known-in-their-time ones that seemingly disappeared. This all started with a discussion about ALAZAN the Mystery Car. Anyone know about this cars' history or want to search for others, like maybe the Tognotti Brothers Big T?

You're thinking of the Monogram 1/8 scale 'Big T' model. Monogram had Darryl Starbird build a full-size version for promotional purposes which I think he still owns.
Sadly, the original Lincoln Y-Block mill was replaced with a small-block Chevy V-8 when the car was renovated in the Eighties.
Darryl's Big T, as far as I know no one knows what happened to it... Here is the "reproduction" he did more recently. I believe it is currently in his museum.
I read that the original (steel bodied) 1/1 was given away in a contest, and essentially never seen again. Imagine finding that stashed away in a garage, squirreled away for 50 years!?
No, actually I'm not thinking of that. I may recall this incorrectly, but after the Tognottis won AMBR they had another car, a 4 seat one, full fendered, with running boards. That one.
In answer to your original question about a thread on lost customs, try this one- tons of info on lots of cars, maybe you will find what you're looking for there: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/what-ever-happened-to.1016572/page-105#post-12848840
Hot rods.... I think the original version is “lost” because it was really a classic compared to what it is now. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
It seems to me that Monogram gave away at least 3 cars after kits were made and the cars had run the course at shows - Big T, Big Deuce and Orange Hauler. Memory serves (or doesn't) Darryl retrieved a couple of these.. (perhaps still has them)? Dave
