Steve not sure how well deserved it is but it is always nice when you are thumbing through a magazine and see your own car. It seems magazines always have other people's cars.

Hopefully you will slap some pie crusts on Tunnel Rat and bring it to the Pie Crust in June. Once you figure out the launch the runs themselves are a blast as always. IMG_17502r5.jpg

Bruce that little sprint car must have been set up for short tracks as the gear he had in it made it scoot through the first 330 (maybe a bit further).

Steve yes those are pie crusts so you are good to go. Guess my memory sucks. Some guys myself included switch back and forth between pie crusts and other rear tires. John (Bald 1 on the HAMB) runs Radirs all the time with his black 62 Vette so there are a few of you guys that stick with pie crusts-good for you.

This picture of the Trautman/Nugent 1960 Vette was in another thread. I have been looking for a picture of this car for some time and thought I had a picture of it (if I do I have no idea what happened to it). Roger Sinistri's son Roger had posted on this car as being tuned by his dad who successfully tuned a few competitive Corvettes (including the 2-61s, Buckshot and Rapid Rabbit). Ring a bell with anyone as to pictures or info? 46796535_10156658673572295_1443437129777545216_n.jpg

Sal Accardi at Islip 1/8 dragstrip on LI Sal pretty much owned that place win wise, he was set up for the 1/8 no question about it.

Cool Video day :) This one from Bangkok Dean About the Corvette SS. Never knew it had a Bubble Top.

LB the 57 Experimental SS was cool although I am not sure it is my favorite in designs (certainly slippery though). I would be remiss though if I did not point out that I am a bigger fan of Zora (behind the wheel) than Bill Mitchell. Both were important figures in the development of the Corvette but Duntov was a bit better (IMO) in terms of real performance which the car claimed (at times) Vette 57 SS 2.jpg Vette 57 SS 3.jpg .

As to your Chevy Boys 62 pic I certainly like the car but my file is a tad thin. The car survives in original condition and I had read that it eventually ran in the low 11s before being retired in 1970 (I believe) but those times would be a bit quick for the stock ranks in that era (IMO)-high 11s may be more believable in "stock" form in 1969-if my memory serves me. The present owner I believe claims they punched the 327 out to 377 and ran a tunnel ram with 2 -750s and ran in E/S and D/S-I am not sure any rules allowed that in stock classes. With the tunnel ram and extra inches and a 5:13 gear, low 11s seem more probable but I would guess they ran in a different class. e49b32ba461fd0593c2c12679ee3e693.jpg

Here is a picture of the car with the E/SP classification on the side. Of course the tunnel rams were never allowed in Sports classes that I remember. Cool car though.

Per chance here is another Chevy Boys car that I know little about from a different state-both 62 though which is cool.

I agree it is a great looking car. As much as I like the blower sticking out of the hood I prefer the view from the back. The top has been lowered (windows are different of course) and/or the rear deck raised which gives it a sinister appearance. The body mods are definitely pleasing. Will look super with some translucent candy. Look forward to seeing it run as well.

    Scott,
Did you pull a pull a stock body from your molds and modify it, or did you make a whole set of molds with the mods incorporated?

With the exception of the white lettered tires this is a great look. In all reality, most of
the '50s and '60s cars we dig look best as stock bodied vehicles. Fads come along, guys
jump on the bandwagon, sometimes the cars suffer and down the line the fellow that
wants a bitchin' car suffers. Guys spent so much dough on getting in on the fad that
they feel they have to get the majority of their investment back, putting the hurt on
those that might have been able to afford that car before it was attacked, and many
times not being able to sell the car.

Thank goodness this fellow had the ability to see and appreciate the beautiful lines of
this Corvette and tastefully modified it.

More likely D/SP which was 7.51 to 8.39 lbs per advertised horspower in 1967. D/S was 11.30-11.58 that year and I doubt that the Corvette had that little or weighed that much.
