Hey everyone, On my 32 Ford I'm just running the hood top , It's steel and has the stainless strip down the center and is hinged so either side can tilt back, The hood is painted . Does anyone make a prop kit for just the top ? Thanks
Dunno, but a wedge or two of foam should keep the open side from going too far when flipped over. Chris
This is shown with a one piece hood however it may function with a two piece hood and is available for 32 Ford. You could contact them at the site is below for confirmation it with work with a split hood... The Two Way Hinge and Latch Kits are made from heat treated aluminum with stainless control rods. Dual prop rods, alignment pins and with all stainless fasteners. Although more time to install than the One Way Kits, these kits will open the hood three ways, both left and right as well as quick removal of the hood top. Our aluminum knob control rod system have state of the art spring locking controls, which will insure your hood top will never unlatch unexpectedly. http://www.rootlieb.com/hood-hardware.html Note: I have no affiliation with this company.
This was my last hood prop set up. I think every time I have done one it's been different. Still haven't come up with one I totally like. Rex Rogers The Forge Loveland, Co
I like the way it holds the hood closed. Can we see a photo of the radiator side and how your brackets mount to the cowl and radiator shell?
The Rootlieb sets were made by Dan Fink, at least when Dan owned the buisiness, very high quality and complete, worth the extra $$$, I have their set for the one piece hood. Usually some mods needed due to various build styles. Would be pretty easy to make your own shorter prop rods for your dual opening setup, these components are your basic throttle pivot pieces with 1/4" SS rod threaded on the ends. Many well stocked Ace Hardware stores have them.
I couldn't find a photo of that right now. I used a 1/4 camloc fastener from mcmaster carr. And the receiver is on the grill shell. I have made the hood retainers with a spring kinda like a slide lock, the work great initially but after driving around and the sun warming up the welting they can be a pain to open. Sometimes a simple stainless rod bent to slide in the hinge and a place off the firewall is simple Rex Rogers The Forge Loveland, Co
