Hot Rods Unique Model A Coupe Wheels

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Nicholas Coe, Nov 10, 2018.

  1. I want to go with a nice period correct late 1960s feel. I want to use a not so typical wheel. What do y'all think? Any suggestions? IMG_20180921_185440.jpeg tapatalk_1541341575259.jpeg tapatalk_1541341569010.jpeg tapatalk_1541556793399.jpeg

#1 and #3 scream hot rod. #2 is a mmmmm?, #4 looks 70's/80's at first glance.

  8. Door #1... 2 and 3 modern spin on the old and #4 oversized Pontiac Rally

  9. Hmmmm period correct late 60’s... chrome slots, cragars, et’s, aluminum slots...were many of your choices for late 60’s wheels? I hate to say it .... grey original style torque thrusts....they were the go to and very period correct

Google late 60’s hot rod magazines for good inspiration.

Tough looking car and the right wheels will really toughen it up...

    Don’t know if I helped...but I thought I’d throw it out there..

#3 appear to be "salt flats" wheels...Funny in 45 years of going up there I've never seen any on the salt flats.... However if the spacing were correct, I'd use them and screw on some Moon discs. #2 would be my choice of the 4 shown.

I like #3 but growing up during those times I’ve never seen them on any Hotrod or muscle car.
Even though I now hate them everyone wanted to put cragars on.
You actually seen more chrome reverse.

  14. I Know! Absolutely correct. I'm hesitant to go chrome reverse though. tapatalk_1541298189661.jpeg

  15. I will double that HATE Cragars also, I will NEVER own another set.

They was cheap and shiny in the day is why everyone and there brothers sister's husband used them.

  20. You do know that #2 is a spindle mount Halibrand? I think the Pontiac rally wheels would look good with wide ovals or Goodyear poly glass if the late sixties vibe is what your going for.

  21. Yes. I like Halibrand wheels, mine would not be spindle mount....but maybe not for this ride. I'm definitely thinking Goodyear Polyglas.

This is the polished version of the one you posted, 16's on our Nova.

  23. I pick #1. It's hard to explain why but they check all the right subliminal boxes for me.
Plus they're easy to wash.

pontiac_tempest_lemans_gto_coupe_1964.jpg Hurst wheels with gold or red stripe tires would be a cool 60's look, they make a 1 piece repop now that's fairly inexpensive and pretty close to the originals in looks (although not 100%) I also like the chrome reverse wheels.

I'm not fond of any of the 4 choices you have above.

  25. None of the above for me....especially the black painted Lincoln MK IV/ late 70s town coupe wheels. Like what has been said: Americans or painted or chrome reverse wheels. [says the guy with powder coated, widened 50s Chrysler wire wheels..heh heh]
