Finally finished my 33, for the most part anyway, still a few minor things left but she runs an drives an looks pretty decent too, Here's how it all went down if you want to follow along, My computer skills are basic at best but here we go, We started with a pretty nice old hot rod that just needed a little freshening after a few years of neglect an then it kinda snow balled on me
When i got this car it had glass fenders on it so i found some steel one's an started to make them fit after the body work was done on the main body
I sent the flat head over to Rick Schnell's to have him work his magic, I polished up some stuff along the way an he put it all together, Looks pretty nice but more importantly runs like a swiss watch
Body work all done, NOPE lets chop it, I've never done it before an not having the balls to wreck a super nice body out to randy's we go, Lake city rod & custom in watertown s.d. , Randy Gribble took two an a half inches out of the roof an it could not have turned out any nicer his steel work on this was exceptional an was super easy to finish back to primer
While it was out at Randy's he had a lot of cool ideas for the chassis so we left it out there for a new rear end an some steering stuff, Brought the body back home an did the floor an cowl
time to make some new glass , i made paterns out of masonite to make the new glass an added some sound deadener
Now she' ready for paint, first lets get it runnin, back out to randy's to get it wired an fired, then it needed some new shoes, after randy got it runnin an drivin i brought it back home to blow it back apart for paint finally
In the booth for some color, Taped up, the dark grey is sealer, the flat black is color, an the shiny stuff is the clear
Look forward to seeing it all fendered up. Very cool hotrod. I'm hoping that it's not getting a street rod red interior. Thats one hell of a straight body.
Jenny Bloedorn handled the interior work, Stichbich Upholstery in stillwater mn, This girl is talented beyond belief an excellent craftsman an she wrapped it all up in a very short time an for a more than fair price, using all the original seats she made the rest from scratch, I should also add that randy gribble cut an metal finished the garnish mouldings so i could have them chromed, fit like a glove when i got them back
Well that about does it, if you read this whole thing thanks for your time i hope you enjoyed it, Thanks to the great people that helped me along the way, Randy at lake city rod an custom, jenny at stichbich upholstery, Rick Schnell, my nephew bean, Here's a few shots out in the wild, see ya next time
That little car is awesome. The shot of the paint before the cut and buff shows some serious skill. Now take it out and drive the shit out of it. -Abone.
