I wish that I had one. I want to here it make that cool sound. I grew up in Kansas, I always loved test days. But when it was for real, usually late into the night during a big storm, it was scary!!!

It is my goal to get one of two things before I die, 1. To recreate my grandfathers slingshot dragster 2. Have atleast one hemi engine sitting in my garage.

I have 9 Gen 1 Hemi's. No gen 2's... Gen 3's are abundant, so I am not worried about those yet.

Your grandfather was definitely a cool guy. He must of had some serious intestinal fortitude!

  9. I just realized that out of 8 engines (5 in cars, 3 out) I currently have in the shop, 7 have Hemispherical combustion chamber design.
While 2 of them are not commonly referred as Hemis, they do feature the exact chamber design combined with 4 overhead cams, 2 dual-point distributors, 6 x 2-bbl carbs, all on top of 12 cylinders meant for 7700 redline, although 1 has been tweaked a bit and ran fine on the dyno at 8200.

The one non-Hemi is an inline/flathead 8 (Well, technically it's still in the machine shop, but should come back later this week).

WELL! It’s official guys dodge re-introduced the 426 hemi with a WHOPPING 1,000 HORSEPOWER! I wish I could talk about it more here but it’s highly off topic! I just wanted to thank the Hemi gods for blessing us with such Devine engines!

It's called the Hellephant. For more info see: https://bangshift.com/bangshift1320...-inches-1000-horsepower-950-ft-lbs-of-torque/

AND it is a KIT engine. With most of what you need in the package and the pulleys etc needed are available and a computer and wiring kit too. No pricing available yet.

  14. the new hemi was built on a 1200 hp. platform so there is a little room if you need more. we should all just be happy Chrysler is still concerned about performance and they do it in house. like it or not these new engines will be traditional for the next generation of hot rodders and their kids. the new hemi will be the engine they grew up with and have great memories of. I go to the drags on a regular basis. the car counts are higher. a lot of it is due to these new muscle cars. getting a new generation of guys involved with cars only helps us all. gen 1,2 or three I like them all.

I like them all too. I am just trying to figure out a scheme on how to own all 3 Generations. With no streetable Gen 2 blocks out there to buy, I may never get a chance to build that... But other than a block shortage, everything else is still being made for that engine family... Go figure... And no, I am not interested in a aluminum Mitchell or BAE block, those aren't what I call "streetable" engines. They look wierd, and I prefer cast iron, so I can run stock cast iron heads....

  16. 20180324_182756.jpg keith black does make a stage-10 block. its a true dry sleeve block with a standard deck and standard cam height. when painted orange it would be hard to tell the difference. adding on a set of stage five heads and you could fool a lot of people. its what I run on the street. The alternator boss is on the head. Stock motor mounts fit. All the stock components will fit. It's easy with a stroke crank to get 572 inches and most out there would take it for a stock engine.

I owned this '29 roadster in the 90's...
With a 392 and all the goodies you could stuff in one, even aluminum rods...

Reluctant to show this because it "does not exist". One of 50 Hemi aluminum water blocks made for Chrysler . Only problem, Chrysler never had a 426 Hemi. Only Dodge and Plymouth. "All were destroyed "....ahem....
