I went on a trip to Cali last week an bought this beauty in Orange County. It's a 5 inch chopped '53 Belair with a shoebox rear window. Bagged all round, Mustang 2 front end with disk brakes and a power rack. Merc headlight rings and it used to have 1960's tail lights. But these where cut out by the previous owner. I would have gotten rid of them myself, didn't really like them either. Should be a car that has been around for some time. In the 2000's it had a Carson top. (last pic) If somebody has more pictures or info on the car please let me know. Can't wait to get started, but I'll have to be patient for 2 more months until it arrives in Europe! So I'll get myself a nice Christmas present. Most of the hard work is done. But finishing a project like this is always difficult I guess. Hope you guys like it!
You may have a real problem fitting glass in the windshield. Thats one of the most common reasons why chopped cars do not get finished. They can't fit the glass to the opening they made. Better to cut the glass and then make the opening fit the glass.
congrats - yep, there will be challenges ahead with finishing your new project - but, will be nice when done - some inspiration attached
I have a 54 2 door sedan that is on the list. I am working on the frame first and it may never be fixed and I suppose it is just a POS but who knows. Good luck with the windshield that is enough reason for them never being finished!
Congratulations. It's good that you had a chance to see it first. The Ford rear window looks great. Matranga/Hirohata style quarter windows would fit the profile nicely.
