Painted my rims yesterday I prepared them and my brother did the painting it took us a total of 5 1/ 2 hours but we spent some quality time together and that was priceless.
You're fairly new here...welcome Gegara Lots of these vintage cars here start out as perforated rusted shells with the bottom 6" missing...many times it's a challenge but this stuff doesn't grow on trees so you want an old car...many times there's extensive work involved...Very Little is beyond repair. This on the other hand was a very solid complete original. Some do all the fabbing and clean it up after and paint... Again this was a solid start so even with a wire brushing and cleanup and paint and it's new Hotrod lifestyle it will outlast both of us. @chop job has everything well in control...you must see the smile on his face...good job Chop...you have every reason to smile...
My brother and I worked today and made the hot rod a roller. First time outside in some time even some snow started to fall. Next comes the brake lines and gas lines.
Guys...Believe it or not, those are referred to as 'Sex Nuts'. Saw them in my hardware purveyor's catalog! (Passadori's H'dw'e)
Wow...the Ol' shifter interference. I'm using the same transmission, Ford 3 speed. I never liked the 'side-shifter' putting the stick on 'my side'... so, this time (and this transmission) I took it on the 'low side', (easy way out) and omitted the inner shift forks, then simply bolted a Jeep 150 tower with 'big center stick' on top. Makes it like a 'short-throw' '39 Ford box. Best of BOTH worlds... Jeep wreckers have this setup, usually $75-$100, including the stick. (and knob, but we tend to choose hot rod types) A 'REAL floor shift'.
Had my arms wraped again with basal cell cancer for four weeks and on the mend. Played with the dash and made a mount for the tack. Hope to get back at it and rum the brake lines and gas line soon.
Just found your thread and read it all. Really enjoying your skills and car. Looking forward to more, get well soon, and thanks for sharing your fun!
Thank you glad you are enjoying the build. I'm doing a lot better now and starting to work in the garage every day.
Just found the thread and enjoyed reading it, you're doing a great job, keep up the good work and happy you are doing better and able to get back at it! Looking forward to watching you and your brother finishing this up.
Added battery cable and installed starter. Almost ready to put the body on for final time just want to check and make sure all is done first it's a lot easier if you do not have to bend your self in half to get at that bolt. Having a lot of fun now seeing every thing come together.
