30 years ago we used to use either Red Oxide or Brown Lacquer primer from RM. I'm looking to duplicate the look from the old days on my next project. What do you guys recommend?

You can have your paint supplier tint some urethane primer or sealer for you. Lippy

I needed to put some red oxide primer inside, and under, my Chevy II when I built it a few years ago, I got a gallon of Nason red oxide lacquer primer from my local paint supply store. They had to order it. It worked out just fine.

  4. I had a single stage paint mixed that color. You can add a flatter. Or you could google hot rod flatz

  7. Yep
    Paint it Henry Ford style
Set it outside long enough to lightly rust then brush on the primer and paint

  8. dplf 74 [red] mixed with dplf 90 [black] almost equal parts looks like the old brown lacquer.
