My nephew had something to do with getting the Bugatti's there. They will be up in Saratoga for a wine and food show. Big show tomorrow at Lime Rock no racing on Sunday's.

  4. guys worked the cars hard enough to break some stuff. one of the bugattis spun, a tire caught in the grass and the crowd gasped as it went up on two wheels.........car teetered for a second then came down to rest on all fours.........close call.
the 2 car sounded like he had a fuel delivery problem and did not finish the first race, but came out in the second race and competed.
the 33 car blew a piston out through the block and the corvette...........got off the track just before the car bridge/down hill and hit the tire barrier. IMG_2911.JPG IMG_2892.JPG IMG_3184.JPG

Some day I'll find the photo I took of this car @ 1979 on an open trailer in Mom & Dad's driveway when I stopped home for lunch before delivering it to Dr. Williamson. I saw it last year on display in the Petersen. Bob

they had it jacked up and were putting blocks under the front wheels at the end f the day. not sure what the problem was but they had hood up, tools spread out and were trying to get to the under side.

Yes, I looked for you, saw your ELVA but not you. Great Bugatti turn out! This car sold at Hershey 35-40 years ago for around $7,000, everything was covered in the light Bugatti blue, sure looks a lot nicer now. Bob DSCF1100.JPG DSCF1101.JPG

That Bug was having problems a week before the meet, blew an upper water hose while Ben was close to it. That white bandage covers 2nd & 3rd degree burns wrist to arm pit. Hardcore mechanic? I think so.

Great photos and I had to snag a few for my inspiration file for my roadster. When done is is supposed to look like it belongs out at an event like that.

  13. today is the big show, the cars will line the track. lime rock park has an agreement with the town/church to not race on sundays, but the racing will continue on monday.
still time to get out there to see some bugattis and all the other vintage race cars.

Wandering about that, I thought it might have been either protection from the heat of that pipe while driving or a bandage from getting to close to it:)......
Classy vintage stuff rite there, Thanks for sharing:cool:

Brother Mike's black 39 Willys 2dr. sdn. could probably run pretty well on that road course. We built it to handle and it does just that with the independant front and Jag rear coupled to a 4speed and 350 SBC. Great pictures to all those that took them.
