Are "shoebox" coupes the next new rage? Starting to look like it!:D

  2. I agree with the rake issue with skirts, I just need to make time to put the lowered rear springs on. One thing at a time, and keep it rollin.

Some inspiration for you Danny. Yeah it's a 50 sedan but close enough.

  4. I used a Kwik Wire on my Ford and the instructions were great. I bought all new sockets separately for the dome and taillights, a zillion various terminals. But did dig deep and buy some good crimp tools and stripper (Lowes, $26).

I agree with you, keep the skirts and drop the rear a few inches. I am not a fan of the visor but that's just me. Great looking car, I always loved the 51 Dash and steering wheel.

  7. I spoke with Mike at Rebel Wire and they have a 6 Volt Positive ground. Still shopping but at $226 it sounds good and will eliminate my current headache.

I am subscribed. The spokes give it a hot rod feel. Think I will sell my T Tudor and look for a 49/50 club or a 64 Fairlane. Never was a Ford man but things change as you get older.:D

IMG_0510.JPG This is what a buddy of mine was driving in high school in '62. Still hope there's enough years left for me to get one.

  13. OK guys, a little update.

The good ....the car is on the rack and the floors look pretty good,I did see a few places where the floor has been patched and it appears to be done very nice.

The gas line was taken loose from the carburetor and man does it stink!

Hooked the carburetor to a gallon gas can and installed a battery and it fired right up, amazed me after sitting 3 years but it was popping when I revved the engine, I'm thinking it may have a stuck valve.

The bad ....The gas tank is toast , it's weak all across the bottom so I'm just going to replace it.

    That's it for now. HRP

  14. Run some Marvel Mystery oil or A T F through it . A qt should do. Do it in the evening & call it mosquito control. Oh yeah be sure it is outside & away from the house.

  15. Yes to the side trim!

  16. Black always looks good on a shoebox. But if you want something awesome go with the color of my roadster. It is unusual and I do not give this information up to just anyone. I have this vision for your Ford.
Late 40’s Kaiser Doeskin. It will knock your socks off, I promise!
Trust me on this one. You could do red interior or black, or saddle.
I think a red a bit on the dark side, but not maroon.

Good to hear it runs! Like Burnout Bob said, ATF in the oil should help, and you could run some two stroke oil in a gallon of gas, too.
Do they repop that model tank, or are you going have to adapt something else to work?

  20. Yes, the tanks are available brand new from Shoebox Central, I have one in my '51. Another vote for the side trim.

Believe I saw the shoebox in Phillips post or a dead ringer for it at the recent NSRA Nats. Thats the look I'd go for.

  28. Moose, your photo shop work is amazing!

I've had a couple of blue cars in the past but not the color for this car & the wagon is green, I'm thinking some color in the tan or khaki shades. HRP
