History Images of vintage gas stations ~ pre 65

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Sep 17, 2016.

  1. Maybe the title of this thread should be changed to "Vintage pictures of gas stations."

26 T Ford RPU and Ghostcruiser like this.
  2. I agree with that but surely its not that hard to understand. JW

I wouldn't have thought so, but the evidence points to the contrary...

I like these threads. It makes me wish our country was still that simple and strong.

Have a friend that just restored this one in Bloomfield, IA. It's complete with all the stuff inside and is a museum now. Also has a hoist and tire machine outside the building to the right (didn't send me a picture of that part. He's spent a couple years working on this, I got to help elevation settings, design, labor and chasing parts for it. It's very well received in town and he has given numerous tours.

  21. Hey Danny, great image. If you traveled in Southern Idaho in the late 50's, 60's or 70's you'd remember the "Fearless Farris" Lind Stinker Station gag signs along old highway 30. I have 110 and 35 mm photos of a bunch of them that I may never find again, but I have them. There are still a few standing if you know where to look. They were certainly inspired by the Burma Shave sign groups from the same time, only Farris Lind only had singles, something to think about on one side and an ad for his stations on the other. Look it up! upload_2018-7-15_17-41-57.png

Newer but patterned after the garage that my Bud’s Dad owned in late 40s to mid 50’s

Notice how many cars have pulled up on the opposite side of the filler neck? Good thing they had long hoses.
