Will a Ford 33-34 driveline fit inside a 38 torque tube? Can I use any later torque tube? Thanks for any help.

it will if you knock out the center support bearing and cut to length. personally i prefer to use the later driveshaft for a-v8s

So your saying use the 38 driveline over the 33-34? Is it just as easy to shorten?

i found it way easier to just cut the shaft to length and bore one end of the spline coupling to a press fit on the cut end of the shaft and weld on. close to 20k miles and no problems. with the 34 setup i had it was too hard to keep the t-tube and tubular shaft perfectly true when welding. every 2k miles the splines on the end would wear out and shear the roll pin. there may be enough flex in the 38 to minimize the wear on the coupling. be advised that others may have had better luck with the 34 setup than me!

I always use the 33 34 driveshaft when shortening a torque tube.

    Will that 33-34 shaft work in a 38 t-tube?

It is shorter, but i assume you are cutting it all down to fit an earlier car.
Yes it will work in there. The 34 drivesfaft does not need a center support bearing.

I used a 33/34 shaft shortened in my 32. I was told 33/34 was the easiest to shorten of all of them. I cut the splined end bung weld with an angle grinder. Pop the bung out.......shorten the shaft.....push the bung back in........reweld the seam. Did it on a table in about 1/2 hour. The splined bung goes in the shaft far enough to keep it true to reweld.

I have not tested mine yet but know its been done that way for many moons by the home builders. Steve

It you have trouble finding the ever-increasingly rare '33-34 driveshaft and/or torque tube, Dick Spadaro is now selling an all brand-new cut to fit drive shaft for torque tube rear end.

    Butter.
