History NHRA Junior Stock

Finally got through to Tony over the weekend. It turns out that he sold the iron 'Glide a while back....to Big John Barkley. As we've often observed, it's a small, tight-knit group...and it's getting smaller!

This will probably get deleted. It's a repost and it's not mine. All credit goes to The owner. If u own this photo I would like to buy it. This is the only good color pic I can find of my late brothers car. In the pic u see the drive on hoist trailer(just finished no fenders yet and in primer)Emergency lights over the hood are our dealership's service truck. And the chrome stahls poking out behind front tire. I tried to find this pic in the early posts (pm the owner)but couldn't find it. Other is Barry under the hood at Sioux City.

Dilcher had that same speed shop lettered on the door of his '55 after he took it back to New York and on fender of the '65 Malibu convertible Super Stocker that he built in '73. After that, Hedworth and Zoelle used the same name on the speed shop that they opened in Rowland Heights. If Neil doesn't know, I'm sure that Paul could provide information.

I’m kind of a Ford guy,but man,do I have a soft spot for those dual carb 283s.....I’ve been hooked ever since Hot Rod magazine did a series of articles around ‘82/‘83 documenting the restoration/rebuilding of a 57.
If you ever get the chance to do your car up with a 270hp motor,please do a build thread on here!

Bang,

Actually, Jack Bayer's shop was the home-base for the Neja Brothers. The '55 was campaigned by the younger Neja brother, Tim. The "Checkerboard" car is iconic amongst the Division 7 Junior Stock contingent. Tim still has that car or its clone and there are periodic rumors that he will display in at some point.

Just about everyone knows that Tom, the older brother of Tim, lost his life in a towing accident many, many years ago before fulfilling what was regarded as a very bright future in the sport. They represented the sport very well and are a part of the historic saga of Junior Stock in this part of the country. Thanks for posting that group of pictures.
